I love this place! I was in the area for work and when someone said the best food in the area was sushi...I had my suspicions. Arizona Mexico border sushi did not sound fresh or appetizing. But they all insisted and I am so glad I went. It was really really really good! I had a roll with some jalapeño and it was spicy and really fresh and good. It was a combo, got an app and a little salad. All really good for a fair price. It is a quirky little place and I loved the atmosphere. The server, who was probably also the owner or manager, was really helpful. My coworker had a lot of questions and he happily answered all of them and gave us suggestions. I actually want work to send us back here so I can get it again!
Rolls & Bowls is just off the beaten path on the east end of the San Luis, Arizona city limits. The small but quaint sushi restaurant is locally known for its diversity. Sushi Chef Abraham Andrade is known for fusing Japanese dishes with Mexican traditions. As always the staff is genuinely happy to see you and very pleasant to talk to. The restaurant is clean and cozy with Japanese-inspired art on the walls. They have some tables inside but there's also a spacious patio area where they have music depending on the night that you go. My go-to dish is the Bento Bowl which comes with a roll, teriyaki, a salad, and spring rolls. Now, the food is absolutely amazing. But, the hidden gem is their drinks, these aren't your ordinary cocktails. Chef Andrade has also put his touches on these drinks. The mojitos are unique but his masterpiece has to be his chelada. This thing is insane in appearance, the rim has chamoy and tajin, and at the crown of the drink is a poker with olives, a pepper, and candied grasshoppers. You heard right, Just like they do in bars in Mexico. The drink itself has a shot of Patron which gives it a little kick. Overall the drinks alone merit the drive, the food is just icing.
Their poke bowls are so good! I always order ahead and pick up. I recommend you order it with spicy mayo on the side instead of the Chipotle cream it comes with.
May I say that this establishment is one that if you don't live in San Luis Arizona, or travel through the area to the border, yoi may not run accross this venue. However, may I say that I was impressed with the depth of the menu and focus on quality ingedients. You need to check them out on-line if rolling through. I met Chef Abraham and he is pretty health directed as well. It is not a large establishnent, but they look like they crank out some serious chow. Alcohol is served here, so yoi can get blasted, stagger across the boarder, and get your teeth done. Or, get your favorite booze or trink to bring home. I did not expect a sushi place here but glad they are around. Sushi is a must periodically. Especially with s few Saki Bombers and an Uber or Lyft to roll home in. #irishcatv2
Amazing food and great prices and atmosphere. I love their Chipotle salad! I use to live in Havasu until a few months ago and I would literally order so I could have it once I got back home, now that I live closer I don't miss a chance to order whenever I'm craving it. Also check their page for daily specials.
